How old are the Conferees at Saint Michael’s Conference?
The Conference is for high school and college-age young people. “Juniors” are conferees who are entering ninth, tenth or eleventh grade in the fall. “Seniors” are conferees who will be in twelfth grade or above (until their twenty-first birthday). Juniors and Seniors live in separate hallways for the week and have different course elective options. Read more about eligibility.
What is a Conferee?
That’s just our name for camper. St. Michael’s Conference isn’t your typical summer camp, and accordingly, we refer to the young people attending as conferees.
Should my young adult help to decide if he or she goes to Saint Michael’s Conference?
Although it’s important to discuss the conference with your young adult, we often find that parents compel attendance the first year and allow the young adult to make the decision subsequent years. Nearly all Conferees who reluctant to attend St. Mike’s the first year are thrilled to go back the next.
How do I get young adults excited about attending?
Have them watch the video on the homepage! Some teens are hesitant to attend St. Mike’s because they expect it to be a week-long version of Sunday school. It doesn’t take long upon arrival for them to see that St. Mike’s has the same fun atmosphere as any summer camp. New Conferees quickly make friends thanks to the welcoming feel of the activities and discussions. Plus, the excitement of the returning Conferees is contagious!
What does the registration fee cover?
Tuition covers everything your teen will need for the week: lodging, meals, activities, evening programs, etc. The conference center provides sheets, blankets, bath towels. Conferees should bring some additional money to cover incidentals such as soft drinks, the all-conference photo and church offerings. Tuition does not include transportation from your home to the conference center.
What is the age range of the counselors?
Counselors are recent Conferees who are at least 21 years old. The clergy and senior staff oversee the conference and the counselors.
Do you accommodate young adults with special needs?
Yes. Please contact us at SaintMichaelsConference@gmail.com to discuss your child’s needs prior to the Conference.
