DOGMA
Father McKinnon, Kate Wood, and Beth Harrison
(Required course for all FOURTH year conferees.)
Something is happening to us today... We are waging a war of religion... a
life-and-death struggle between Christian and pagan. It is a war of dogma.
The word dogma is unpopular and that is why I have used it... It is a lie that
dogma does not matter; it matters enormously. It is fatal to let people
suppose that Christianity's only a mode of feeling... It is on the contrary a
hard, tough, exacting and complex doctrine steeped in a drastic and
uncompromising realism." From Creed or Chaos by Dorothy L. Sayers..

WHO ARE YOU WHEN NO ONE'S LOOKING?
Jesse Shedden, Molly Cramer, and Rob Thomason
How do we think and act when we are alone as opposed to when we are with
peers/friends? Do we say or do things when we are with others that we do
not truly believe? Our actions are often better indicators of our beliefs
than our words. Sometimes we try to fool the world but end up fooling
ourselves.

OCCASIONAL CHRISTIANS
Father Mills, Father Stambaugh, Jesse Shedden, and Molly Cramer
Some adolescents go to church on Sunday, pray occasionally, confess their
sins once or twice a year, don't get in trouble with the law or at school, etc.
At the same time, many sneak out to drink booze, smoke pot and take other drugs,
have sex with boy/girl friend or maybe just a one night stand, brag about how
they get away with disobeying their parents and not following Christian moral
behavior. They are occasional Christians. Real Christians walk to
the beat of a different drummer in their behavior. His name is Jesus.
The good news is that with a little help the occasional Christian can become a
real Christian.
SAINTS AND SINNERS IN HOLY SCRIPTURE
Chris Wood, Beth Harrison, and Daniel Montgomery
The Bible is about God and people - both the faithful and the unfaithful.
We can see ourselves in both Saints and Sinners, for we are both.
Third Period Elective Course for

ST. FRANCIS

Francis dealt with three of the biggest issues of our time - respect for the
environment, war and trying to achieve peace, and rejecting commercialism.
FAITH AND DOUBT
Father Robinson, Sister Mary Charles, and Father Barry
To say we have doubts does not mean we lack faith. Are you wondering
about matters of Christian Faith? All questions are welcome in this
course.
